Located in south-central Grayson County, Texas on State Highway 289 between Sherman, Denison and McKinney, Gunter offers the leisurely setting of rural Texas within minutes of the "big city" amenities. In addition, Gunter is only minutes from great shopping, restaurants and entertainment venues in neighboring Frisco, McKinney and Sherman.

 

 

Gunter Independent School District is a highly rated, public school district located in Gunter, TX. which received an exemplary rating from the Texas Education Agency ( the highest performance rating available). It has 822 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1. According to state test scores, 89% of students are at least proficient in math and 91% in reading.
